worst Jessie toys ever

I saw Toy Story 3 a couple of nights ago. It was EPIC. I can't recommend it enough. In fact, it's put me in a bit of a Toy Story buzz. My absolute favorite character is Jessie the Yodeling cowgirl.

DON'TCHA WISH YOUR BARBIE WAS HOT LIKE ME?
Unless you've been under a rock for the past 10 years, you should know who Jessie is. She's tough, takes no crap from anyone, but sweet, caring, and always willing to do the right thing. And for a toy, she's really really pretty.
.
.
.
You didn't read that >>

This is their newest Jessie toy. She comes in the exact same scale as she does in the movie, she talks, she's interactive, and she has the cutest face from any Jessie toy ever. And I sadly do not own it T_T But I have one question.
WHY did it take so long for them to make a Jessie toy this good? I don't even care about the interactive technology (though it's nice and I welcome it) my beef is no other Jessie toy LOOKS this good. Don't believe me? Well, let's take a look at some of the Jessie toys that have come out over the years
Now, keep in mind I don't OWN any of these so I can't give them a full review.

We'll start with something simple. This is actually I believe the second best Jessie doll on the market. Though her face looks like she's a little... TOO happy. The hat is kinda tiny too and I hear it doesn't stay on very well.

We'll start small with these. They're not god awful, but they're not great either. the top one looks like she wants to molest you (and the hat seems a bit too big) and the bottom one looks like she's completely stoned.

Now this one while not ugly, is just funny looking. She looks caught in mid-smile.

Dear... god! This goes down as the UGLIEST Jessie doll I've seen. She looks like a monkey! But at least they remembered to make her hair yarn

Here's an action figure. I believe this came out rather recently. She's supposed to be dancing but her stand makes her look like she's inappropriately massaging a horse. She's got kind of a scary face too. In fact, a lot of these Jessie toys do. Whether they were trying to recreate her face as she appears in toy mode in the movies, or they're trying to make a sculpt that speaks to her tough girl personality, they just came out as scary. But even these are no wear near as scary, as frightening, as nightmare fueling as he following doll I'm about to show you

SWEET JESUS! What the Hell were they thinking here? SERIOUSLY! Who in their right minds approved of this design? I feel bad for any child that got THIS for Christmas. She looks like she wants to rape you, or strangle you in your sleep.
I had read in an article that when they introduced Jessie in Toy Story 2, toy companies were weary because anyone who follows toys know, many toy companies have borderline sexist mentalities on female characters in what is perceived as a "boys" toy line. However, John Lasseter insisted on her being in the movie and toy line to encourage the original intention of Toy Story not being specifically for boys, but for both genders. So looking at these toys has me wondering if the company was intended on making these things bad so no one would want them and in turn encourage their sexist mentality on toys. Well, the joke's on them because toy sales have shown that Jessie's popularity and sales rival Woody's. Though I'm pretty sure Buzz still beats them both.

I WANT THIS TOOOOY!!! T_T

My favorite cosplays of Anime Boston 2010

Many things make a convention for many people. For some it's the panels. For some, it's the celebrity guest. While those are crucial for a great convention, there is one thing that this Ninja Pirate feels most definitely makes for a memorable convention. That is cosplayers. Some people find them creepy, I find them to be the coolest thing about conventions.

The convention in question is Anime Boston. The largest anime convention in New England. Today I'm giving a long past due run down of my favorite cosplays of the event. The cosplays I found when attending anyway

We'll begin with my number one favorite anime character... Astro Boy!

Sure, she didn't do the full outfit. I've talked to her though. She's working on it. I loved this cosplay not only because she made his hair, and even thought to do herself completely in Black and White; but because this is the very first cosplay of my favorite anime character I had ever seen in person. That alone gives this my props.

Next is my main man since I was a six year old gaming geek; MARIO! There are many Mario cosplays every year at AB but This on in particular made it for a few reasons. Not only did he look the part best, but he's quite possibly the first Mario cosplay I had ever seen with a real mustache.

Next up is actually the first picture I took of the weekend. This is Tamaki and the Twins from Ouran High School Host Club. (Yes, I like this series. Sue me) What caught my eye with them is not only how much they LOOK like the characters. Even if the twins who are male are being played by female (they often are) but in posing, they kept in character well. At least the Twins did. Tamaki is just sort of... standing there. But it's alright. He still looked the part well.

The Legend of Zelda is another cosplay seen a lot here but these two were by far the best. Do I even NEED to say why? Just look at them

Gambit from X-Men was cosplayed fantastically here. Not really a lot to say here except... AWESOME!

I knew it. I knew the moment I saw Harley Quinn's new look in the Arkham Asylum video game, that it would become a popular cosplay. And why shouldn't it be? It was HOT! Not to mention the closest we're getting to how she's appear in Chris Nolan universe. This Joker was so good, she actually kinda scared me

Allo Allo, what's Harley doing with The Riddler? Joker isn't going to be happy about this.
Okay, let's face it. The Joker is over-done in the cosplay world. I was greatful to see someone remembered that yes, The Joker is awesome, but Batman DOES have other villains. Both costumes were pulled off excellently here

Someone else remembered Batman has other villains too and came as a fantastic Two-Face. What would've made it better would be if he sat around the con flipping a coin.
Heads; I pose for your picture. Tails; YOU DIE!
... wait, what?

Hottest. Poison Ivy. EVER! She was so hot, my camera couldn't even photograph her properly

After all these Batman villains, it was really cool to see... BATMAN! Based on his look from The Dark Knight, this was the most EPIC Batman I've ever seen. The details on the suit, the look in his eyes when he posed, if I didn't know any better, I'd say this WAS The Goddamn Batman!

There was a lot of DC Cosplay at this anime convention. But as long as we're getting hot girls in tights, I say who cares?

Hey, look at that. An anime character at an Anime convention. What a concept! This is Radical Edward from Cowboy Bebop. One of my absolute favorite characters from the series and this woman captured her well. The clothes are perfect, the hair looks very well done (Not everyone gets anime hair right) and the pose spoke the character. She looks so good, she gives me a decent idea of what Ed would look like as an adult and honestly, the future looks good

Cosplay of one of the most strangely addictive games ever! the Prince of the Cosmos from Katamari Damacy. this has nothing to do with the cosplay, but the man with the "The end is nigh" sign is deeply amusing.

I caught a Digimon battle. There was a lot of Digimon this year. Inbetween that, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon, Anime Nostalgia seems to be the thing

I like when people take the familiar and re-create it into something still familiar, but unique. This Burlesque-ish Sailor Scouts is a prime example of this.

I laughed so hard when I found this. It's a space alien from Sesame Street that only said "Yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip uh-huh" And in fact, once I pointed it out it started with it's "Yip yip yip yip" spiel. This is the sort of random shit you just don't get at Comi-Con

Jessie and James do the Team Rocket tango! I hope they don't turn around. (There's a "Twerp" behind them)

There are two things in this world guaranteed to get the fanboy in me. Astro Boy and GI Joe. And this convention had both!

And finally, as my absolute favorite cosplay of the weekend, Dr. Black Jack from the Osamu Tezuka Manga of the same name. Black Jack appeared at Cosplay Chess (along with Astro Boy) and after the show, I got a shot.

There you have it. My favorite cosplays from Anime Boston 2010. But these aren't the only photos I took. Take a look at my Deviantart Gallery for more

Superman the arcade game

At some point during the mid 80s to early 90s there was an explosion of video games based on popular comic-book and cartoon series'. All of which having kind of a Ninja Turtlesish game play. Superman was not immune to this. Today I am reviewing his.

Yes, Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings with a single bound, the amazing stranger from the planet Krypton, the Man of Steel, Superman! Whew, I can't believe I remembered all of that. I think my geekyness is showing. This game has always remained an old childhood favorite from the days when I hung out at the Boys and Girls club. That's where I played the game. Never got very far because of my lack of skill and pocket change but that never stopped me from loving this game. I believe this game was trying to cash in on the movie but other than the theme playing in the background, it doesn't really have much to do with our beloved films. In fact, I think because of those movies and this game, I became of the impression that THIS was the Superman theme and became very confused when I saw other Superman things not use it. What do you want? I was six. Anyway,

Anyway, as I said, despite the theme, it doesn't really have much to do with the movies. In fact, it doesn't really have much to do with anything as far as I can tell. It seems to be basically Superman kicking the can out of some monsters and aliens but it's the simple things in life you treasure as such is this game. Once you slip in our coin, you'll will be offered the choice of one or two players. Yes, two players. I'll bet you're wondering just who would be player 2. Well, I'll get to that in a moment. For now, let's just focus on Superman.

This looks like a job... FOR SUPERMAN!
Whatever that job may be. As I said, this game seems to lack in plot.

But what it lacks in plot it makes up for in fun game play and in the end, isn't that what you truly play games for? Sure, all those well written stories in these new games are nice, but without fun game play, it's really not a game. Anyway, the game play is simple. If it moves, punch it. If it's just plain in your way, punch it.
You also have this strange "Power Punch" thingy. You hold down the punch button and he releases an energy ball that takes your opponent. Not sure why. Don't recall Supes ever able to do THAT, but hey, it's cool. Supes never pulled his S out of his chest and THREW IT at the bad guy either.

Each level is divided into three parts. First on land,

Up in the air where you fly straight up;

And flying across the sky whee you fight asteroids, other various obstacles, and meet up with your boss. Every boss in each level is pretty much the same bald green guy in a different contraption. Beat him, and you get to the next level
Lather, rinse, repeat. The only real difference is settings. First you're in Metropolis,

Then San fransico, Where I question the authenticity of Tai food from a guy named "Joey."

The sewers of San Fransisco, where I kid you not...

You fight a Helicopter. A Helicopter underground! They sent a Helicopter down the sewers of San Fransisco. Gotta admit, that's pretty hardcore.

Las Vegas. I wonder how Superman tells the difference between the aliens and the normal Vegas tourists.

Hey Hey, at ease Superman. We still got a mission!

Even Washington DC. Let me tell you, now we know this is a fantasy because there is no way they would let a super-human alien THIS close to the White House. Even if it was to save the universe. Another thing;

I'm pretty sure Mount Rushmore isn't in Washington D.C.

Then the adventures continue as you enter a space ship and battle...

PLAYBOY BUNNIES OF DOOM!! BWAHAHAHA!

And... this thing. I don't know what it is but DAAAMMN it's big!

The final battle involves the big green bald guy again sending a giant monster at you. The monster looks a lot like the monster you fought earlier which is pretty cheap but it could've been worse. At least the final boss wasn't a Tornado! I'm looking at YOU Superman Returns!

Superman flies over the Statue of Liberty for the world is safe again. For now. With the world's most understated sentence.

Well, it's not the worst final words in a video game.

If you don't know. That's the ending of the Ghostbusters game on the NES. *shudders*

I'll bet you're all wondering about that second player I was talking about. Well, here you go. Unless you're like me. Then you probably forgot. But, if you didn't here you go

Well, there he is. No clue as to who the hell he's supposed to be. I guess they figured all these games have extra players and Superman shouldn't be any different. Even if they had to make one up. And they did. He kinda looks like Captain Marvel to me though.
All in all, it's actually a pretty fun game. Especially for Superman who has trouble getting a break in the video game world. This game isn't perfect but I'll take it over Superman 64.
If you want to play it, look for an Emulator called Mame.
